Processing ACH and Credit Card Test Transactions
Follow the steps below to process your test transactions for ACH and Credit Card, then return to the welcome video to record your results. We suggest you use a small dollar amount such as $1.00, and that you use your own personal credit card and bank accounts for the transactions. This way, you will be able to experience the entire transaction just as your customers will-- including how the transactions will appear on credit card and bank statements.
The simplest way to process one time transactions is with the Quick Pay function, so we will be using that method for this tutorial. Follow these simple steps to process your test transactions:
- Go to paysimple.biz to log-in
-
Enter your User Name and Password then click "login"
If this is your first time logging-in, you will be asked to change your temporary password. Your user name and your temporary password can be found in the welcome e-mail from PaySimple. - On the Home Dashboard click the Process a Quick Payment button
- The Quick Payment page appears.
- Enter your own information in the billing section, as shown below
- First Name is Required
- Last Name is Required
- Email and Email Receipt are optional, but include your email address so you can view the default system email receipts. Note that these receipts are customizable.
- Billing Address 1, City, State and Zip are Required.
- All other billing and shipping address fields are optional
- The default view for the Payment Information section is ACH, as shown below, so we will process a test ACH payment first.
- Enter 1.00 in the Amount field
- Leave the Payment Type as "ACH"
- Select the appropriate ACH Type for this transaction. The default is TEL for a transaction authorized over the phone. This selection is fine for the test transaction.
- Enter the name of your bank in the Bank Name field.
- Enter your 9-digit routing number in the Bank Routing # field
- Enter your bank account number in the Bank Account # field
- For the Account Type field the default is "Checking" if you are debiting a savings account, select "Savings"
- Click the Process button
- If your transaction is unsuccessful, you'll see an error message. Correct any mistakes and click "Process" again. If the transaction is successful, you will see a pop-up window as shown below, containing the transaction amount and Transaction ID. Depending on your ACH processor, you may or may not see an authorization number at this point.
- Click the "Close" button to close the pop-up window.
- You are returned to the Quick Pay page, which is cleared and ready for another transaction.
- Now, retrieve the Customer record you just entered and process a Credit Card test transaction.
- Click the Search link next to Customer ID as shown:
- On the Search screen, type your last name in the Last Name field and click the Search Customers button.
- Your name should be the only one in the results list, as shown below. Click the Load button.
- You are returned to the Quick Pay page with your information loaded in the form.
- Go to the Payment Information section--you'll see the bank information you entered in the previous step is loaded--with your bank account number encrypted.
- To process a credit card payment, select "Credit Card" from the Payment Type drop-down.
- The fields in the page will change to Credit Card related fields as shown below, and will be blank.
- Enter 1.00 in the Amount field
- Enter your credit card number in the Credit Card Account# field
- Enter the expiration date of the card in the Expiration Date field--making sure to use the proper format of mm/yy (i.e. for a card that expires in December, 2009 enter 12/09)
- Enter the security code for the card in the CVV2 field-- this is the 3 digit number on the back of Visa and MasterCards, the three digit number on the front of Discover cards, and the 4 digit number on the front of American Express cards (see image below.)
- Click the Process button
- If your transaction is unsuccessful, you'll see an error message. Correct any mistakes and click "Process" again. If the transaction is successful you will see a pop-up window as shown below, containing the transaction amount, Transaction ID, and authorization number
- Click the Close button in the pop-up window to return to the Quick Payment page.
- That's it! You've just successfully processed an ACH and a Credit Card transaction in PaySimple. Be sure to check your email to view the receipts automatically sent by the system. And check your next bank account and credit card statements for these transactions.
- Now return to the Video and record the results of your test transactions.
