If you were a satisfied user of drop.io before Facebook bought then shuttered it, or if you’ve never heard of it but would like a fast easy way to share files of any size for free, you’ll love the new free ge.tt sharing service.
It couldn’t be easier to use. Simply upload a file by clicking the “select files” button on the website homepage and selecting the file (or files) you want to share from your computer. You are then shown a screen where you can share the file, via the provided custom link, with as many people as you like. The files will stay hosted for 30 days, and you can delete them sooner if you wish.
There is also a button to share via Facebook, one to share via Twitter and a third for Email. If you use the online email form, the email will not contain your name or be “from” you (but you can type a personal message to include), and it will include an ad for ge.tt at the bottom. But, if you use Outlook, you can click the “send this email with Outlook instead” link to open a new email message that contains the sharing link, and you can edit the message and sent it just like any other email.
If you create a free ge.tt account (all they want is your name and email address) you get additional features including 3 months of free storage, a report on how many times your files were downloaded, and an email address book.
Check ge.tt out today. There is an introductory video on the homepage. Or, you can just start uploading and sharing.
