Abstract: Last fall, Karen Wojtczak got a jolt in the form of a 30-day notice that the service handling her company's billing and payments would be discontinued."I was in a panic mode," she says. Ms. Wojtczak is assistant manager of Oak Brook Racquet and Fitness Club, an 84-employee family-owned facility in Westmont, Ill., outside of Chicago. As part of her job, she processes the monthly payments of the club's more than 1,300 members, about half of whom use electronic-funds transfers. She scrambled to find a replacement before the club's next monthly billing cycle.
